Foreman/Job Supervisor

Summary: Morris, Inc. is seeking a driven individual to supervise and direct activities of the crew for a particular job by performing the duties including, but not limited to, those listed below. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct activities of workers concerned with heavy highway other construction projects.
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction based on knowledge of available tools and equipment.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and assists in final planning and implementation of work plans
  • Hold daily safety meetings and ensure that all employees follow safety practices, both from the company safety policy manual as well as other necessary safety practices. This includes following rules and regulations required by federal and state safety standards.
  • Schedule crew’s duties and assign responsibilities.
  • Supervise operation of all machines and equipment used on jobs.
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel and Human Resources representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce.
  • Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in construction and operation of machinery 
  • Excellent management skills and ability to supervise a small or large group of workers 
  • Ability to read construction prints and specifications to derive workflow based on the needs of the project
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Physically capable of doing manual work and lifting at least 75 lbs
