Pierre-Fort Pierre Bridge Replacement Project OPENHOUSE
History is in the making in the Pierre-Fort Pierre area, and we welcome you to take part in a historic kick-off event.
On Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), Jensen Construction Co., and Project Solutions, Inc. will officially introduce the Pierre-Fort Pierre Bridge Replacement Project.
A 2016 study done by the SDDOT concluded the John C. Waldron bridge built in 1962, has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced.
The current structure carries U.S. Highways 14 and 83, along with S.D. Highway 34. The structure is a crossing point over the Missouri River between Fort Pierre and Pierre.
At the Nov. 19, meeting, details will be shared giving an overview of the project, its phases, and give the public a glimpse of what it will look like. Information such as local impact, timelines, and bridge statistics will all be available at the event.
Information packets will be handed out to media and the public at the open house and available online on the SDDOT website and on the SDDOT Facebook page.
Please note, to comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines, attendance will be limited to 60 members of the public on a first-come basis.
The open house will be streamed on the SDDOT Facebook page for those who cannot attend in-person. We will take questions at the meeting and in the comment section on Facebook.
