Run for the Trees 5k
Spring Creek Recreation Area is excited to welcome runners and walkers of all levels to our upcoming 5k on April 18th at 10 AM at the Marina parking lot. Bring your family, invite your friends, and be part of a fun community event that celebrates health, movement, and the great outdoors. Participants are invited to gather at this park to complete their 5K together in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Walk, run, jog, stroll, or roll?this event is open to all ages and abilities. The route will follow park trails, allowing participants to experience and celebrate our outdoor spaces. Important registration information: Registration for the official Run for the Trees event?and to receive the Bob Ross swag packet (T-shirt, finisher medal, and race bib)?must be completed online by April 1, 2026, at: https://runsignup.com/happylittletrees This is a virtual 5K, so participants may also complete their 5K on their own anytime during the event window, but this meet-up offers a chance to enjoy the experience together in a state park setting. Race proceeds support tree planting and forest protection in South Dakota state parks.
OHBA Kids Build Event | FREE EVENT
Bring the kids out for a fun, hands-on day of building, learning, and creating! This FREE event is designed to give kids the chance to work alongside local builders and volunteers while creating something they can take home and be proud of. Parents must be present with their children. Big fun for little builders, and hands-on fun for the whole family! Projects designed for builders ages 5-12, but open to family members of all ages! What to Expect: ? Hands-on building stations ? Guidance from local builders & volunteers ? Take-home project for each youth participant ? Fun, safe, family-friendly environment Food & drinks available for purchase! This is a great opportunity for kids to learn basic building skills, get creative, and have a blast doing it. Go Green and Clean Campaign 2026
Community groups and volunteers are invited to participate in this year's Go Green & Clean volunteer program. Groups may choose a project from the list or propose a new project. The City of Pierre will provide garbage bags and gloves. Supplies can be picked up at the Solid Waste Facility in Pierre. Volunteers are encouraged to haul collected debris to the Solid Waste Facility so materials can be weighed and included in campaign totals. Interested in participating or have a project idea?
