Immigration - It's Impact on South Dakota Program and Dinner
In keeping with their mission of "supporting and promoting the exchange of ideas to foster a thoughtful and engaged society," each year the South Dakota Humanities Council, highlights a central theme through events, programs, and grant-making activities. This year's theme is "Immigration - It's Impact on South Dakota"
On Sunday, April 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the View 34 Restaurant; four immigrants (Martyn Beeny of England; Rosa Iverson of Honduras; Selva K. Nachimuthu of India and Lita Magedanz of the Philippines) will recount their journeys, from country of birth to Pierre.
Dr. Craig Howe, director, Center for American Indian Research & Native Studies, will speak of the impact of immigrants on the American Indian Culture.
Immediately following the program and starting at 6:30 p.m. there will be an Ethnic Dinner. You can enjoy dishes from around the world, share a table with folks from other lands, and learn more about immigration, a fundamental part of our nation's identity.
