History and Heritage Book Club
"Hard Knocks: A Life Story of the Vanishing West" will be the featured book at the August meeting of the History and Heritage Book Club. Author Harry "Sam" Young left home in 1863 to experience firsthand the adventures he had read about of the West in dime novels. Historian James McLaird of Mitchell, who wrote the introduction for the book, will lead the discussion. Everyone is welcome to attend.
