
Cultural Heritage Center Labor Day Weekend Hours
Local and area residents and their guests are encouraged to visit the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre over the Labor Day weekend. The Museum, located northeast of the State Capitol at 900 Governors Drive, is open 9:00am to 6:30pm on Friday and Saturday. There is a small admissions fee for the museum for those 18 and older. Children and members of the South Dakota State Historical Society are always free. Because September 5th is the first Sunday of the month, the State Archives research room is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm. The museum is open 1:00pm to 4:30pm on Sunday, and sinces it's the first Sunday of the month, the admission is free. The museum is also open 1:oopm to 4:30 on Monday, September 7th. All other South Dakota State Historical Society offices in the center, including the archives, are closed on Monday. The "Fallen Heroes" banner display is on exhibit at the Cultural Heritage Center through September 7th. The display, which honors South Dakota military members who lost their lives in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, is located in the center's education room. There is no charge to see the display. Regular hours return to the museum starting Tuesday, September 8th. The museum will be open from 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Saturday and 1:00pm to 4:30pm on Sundays and most holidays.
