
Cooking for Beginners
Have you been living off fast food for too long and are tired of it? Has a life change suddenly forced you to cook for yourself when you have never really had to? You?ve eaten in enough restaurants to know what good food tastes like; here is your chance to learn how to cook it. Learning to cook is a fantastic way to save money because the ingredients needed to cook a meal are much less expensive then a meal at a restaurant and its healthier too! Capital University Center is offering four classes in one week take them all or choose the ones that interest you. A supply list will be provided upon registration and payment plus an additional fee for supplies will be collected at class. Class 1: Sanitation and food safety, utensils and appliances, knives and their uses, measuring units, seasonings and flavoring, menu planning and shopping for food. Class 2: Broths, sauces, soups, salads, and pasta. Class 3: Cooking meats, roasting, broiling/grilling, pan frying/sautéing/griddling, simmering, and braising.Class 4: Baking, cookies, cakes/frosting, pie crust/fillings, yeast bread dough, and quick baking dough.
