Twent years ago, Kevin Costner and his film team were in South Dakota filming "Dances with Wolves" whcih would receive Academy Awards in a number of categories. Bill Markley was fortunate to become involved as a reenactor extra in the opening Civil War scenes, the Fort Hays scene where Costner's character Lieutenant Dunbar receives his orders to head further west, and the final scene where the calvarly searches for Dunbar adn the Lakota in Spearfish Canyon. Markley kept a journal during his stint on the film set and turned it into his book, "Dakota Epic". Come join Markley at 11:00am on October 7th at Capital University Center's new building as he discusses his observations on film making, managing large groups of diverse people, and workers' attitudes. Bill Markley is the Administrator of the Ground Water Quality Program in the South Dakota Department of Enviroment and Natural Resources. Public is invited to attend for only $25.
