South Dakota State Museum Grand Reopening and Ribbon Cutting

The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce was proud to be part of the ribbon cutting celebrating a grand reopening of the South Dakota State Museum on Wednesday, July 1, 2026!

The South Dakota State Museum has opened the first three rooms of the new gallery following an exciting renovation, It's first major refresh since the museum was built three decades ago. 

Governor Larry Rhoden cut the ribbon, and state leaders spoke about the importance of preserving and sharing South Dakota's history for years to come. 

The second three rooms will open this winter, so there's even more to look forward to!
