Rudy the Rooster Brings Storytime and Smiles to Local Schools

Rudy the Rooster, Miranda, and Nick Bring “My First Hunting Season” to Local Classrooms

For the third year in a row, Rudy the Rooster joined Miranda from Visit Pierre and Nick Harrington from South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks to visit elementary schools across Pierre, Fort Pierre, and Onida.
 

Their mission? To share a South Dakota story that celebrates the outdoors, family, and the excitement of new experiences. The book was “My First Hunting Season” by Barbara Resick-Rohrbach and Hudson Rohrbach, illustrated by Austin Lee.
 

The story follows Rudy the Roosters first adventure in the field — learning about patience, safety, and the importance of friendship. Rudy, Miranda, and Nick brought the story to life with energy and enthusiasm, sparking smiles, laughter, and curiosity in every classroom they visited
 

The annual reading event has become a tradition for Visit Pierre and the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce during Rooster Rush Week. A special thank you to the elementary schools in the Pierre, Fort Pierre, and Onida Area for letting us visit and spread the cheer of Rooster Rush Week!
