November 2020 CVB Report
It’s Christmas time in Pierre with Christmas at the Capitol. This year’s theme is “Deck the Halls.” Nearly 100 Christmas trees fill the rotunda and hallways of the capitol for the 40th year. The Christmas trees are decorated by schools, churches, communities and civic groups from across the state. The grand lighting ceremony is Nov. 26, 2020. The display will be open to the public from Nov. 26 through Dec. 26, 2020, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. (CST) daily.
Other parts of the Capitol building will also be decorated, including the grand marble staircase and the Capitol grounds. The big South Dakota tree featured in the rotunda will be decorated by the South Dakota Board of Nursing and the South Dakota Nurses Association in honor of the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale and the 100th anniversary of the Florence Nightingale Award.
Many events go on during the holiday season. If you are planning an event, be sure to get it on the Chamber of Commerce community calendar.
