History and Heritage Book Club

Author Wayne Fanebust of Sioux Falls will tell about his book, "Outlaw Dakota: The Murderous Times and Criminal Trials of Frontier Judge Peter C. Shannon." Shannon was the chief justice of the Dakota Territory Supreme Court who presided over the trial of Jack McCall for the murder of Wild Bill Hickok and other sensational trials. The book is a study of crime and punishment on the Dakota frontier, from Shannon's viewpoint. Everyone is welcome to attend the free program. The book is available at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and the Capitol.
