History and Heritage Book Club

The focus will be on South Dakota's western heritage at the September meeting of the History and Heritage Book Club. The book club selection is "Dakota Cowboy" by Ike Blasingame. He was a cowboy with the Matador Land and Cattle Company in South Dakota in the early 20th century. Gary Heintz of Pierre will lead the discussion, and Willie Cowan of Pierre will tell what it's like to be a cowboy. The Plains Folk will entertain with a few cowboy songs before the discussion starts. Everyone is welcome to attend the free program, sponsored by the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation.
