
History and Heritage Book Club
Author Laura Ingalls Wilder will be the focus of the January meeting of the History and Heritage Book Club. The featured book is Wilder's "The Long Winter," which tells of the severe winter of 1880-81 in De Smet, Dakota Territory. The featured speaker is Nancy Tystad Koupal, director of research and publishing for the South Daktoa State Historical Society. She will discuss "The Long Winter" and "Pioneer Girl." "Pioneer Girl" is Wilder's unpublished autobiography that the SDSHS Press has permission to publish. Everyone is welcome to attend. "The Long Winter" is available at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and Capitol.
