Water Crew Supervisor

The City of Pierre seeks a passionate individual to join our team in making Pierre one of the best places to live, work, and visit. This position supervises a crew of personnel and operates heavy equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of the water distribution system as well as wastewater collection and storm sewer infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Crew leader or Foreman experience is preferred but will train the right candidate. Good communication and leadership skills working in a team atmosphere are essential. The ability to perform high level customer service to citizens, contractors and vendors is a must. Experience operating equipment such as a backhoe, excavator, front end loader, and trencher desirable. Ability to plan and carry out construction activities in an efficient manner and to perform manual labor which involves moderate to heavy lifting at times. Must possess or ability to obtain a Class A CDL with air brakes and a Class I Water Distribution certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position serves as a crew leader and is responsible for planning and directing the daily flow of work and wellbeing of a highly motivated crew in an exciting and skilled line of work. Must be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment used in installing, maintaining and repairing water and sewer mains. 

SALARY: $29.96 minimum plus comprehensive benefit package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental and life insurance along with a 6% employer match to the South Dakota Retirement System and 12 paid holidays. Up to $2000 annual educational assistance available. Wage offer will be based upon actual education and experience.
