Oahe YMCA Grand Re-Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting!
Join us to celebrate the Grand Re-opening of the Oahe Family YMCA! The Oahe Family YMCA has just completed a $6.7 million dollar renovation and addition thanks to our amazing community donors! New: cardio center weight room expanded track senior center kid stop room future day care center A free celebration lunch will be offered at noon. The program will begin at 12:15 PM, with a couple speakers and a ribbon cutting at 12:30 PM. There will be tours before and after the program.

Free live comedy at The Longbranch! Friday 9/6 at 10 PM. Three hilarious comics are coming to downtown Pierre for a great night. Dan Alten, Lavetti Vegas, and Aleda Windels have toured all over the country making audiences chuckle, laugh out loud, slap their knees and even pee their pants. Dan Alten is an intelligent goofball from Kentucky who has headlined shows in 30 states playing everything from theaters to punk basements to art galleries to beloved comedy clubs. Doing over 200 shows a year bringing his tight night surreal nonsense to the people, like if the Ramones were one guy with a mustache and good jokes. He has opened for Kyle Kinane, Bobcat, Sam Tallent, Rory Scovel, Sarah Sherman from SNL, Johnny Pemberton, Hari Kondabolu, rapper Open Mike Eagle, DJ Doug Pound & David Leibe Hart from Tim & Eric, various punk bands with silly names, and a guy at an open mic who tried to throw his father?s ashes into the crowd. He has recorded 2 albums, written a zine, and filmed a pilot for an Amazon Prime stand up show that was lost to history. He?s funny. You will enjoy him and if not you can push him into a river. Lavetti Vegas is a comedian based out of Omaha Nebraska. He?s performed in Atlanta, Denver, Tucson, Kansas City, St. Louis, and more. He talks about life as a Dad, Diabetic and his brief times with the law. He loves talking to the crowd and being personal more than he probably should. Aleda Windels was nominated for a Sioux Falls Stage award for Comedy in 2023. She etertains a wide range of audiences with her absurd takes on life. This ukulele playing goofball produces shows in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. ​
