
Pierre-Fort Pierre Missouri River Cleanup
The Pierre-Fort Pierre Missouri River Cleanup is Wednesday, July 6th from 5 to 8 PM based out of Downs Marina in Griffin Park in Pierre. Land and water crews will pick up litter and trash along the river which then will be disposed of by the City of Pierre. The organizers are looking for more boats, pontoons, canoes, kayaks, trucks, and trailers to help with the cleanup. Volunteers are asked to wear closed toed shoes, sunglasses, bring work gloves, and a refillable water bottle. Groups and businesses are welcome to participate. Trash bags will be provided, gloves will be available as needed. The volunteers are invited to enjoy a picnic supper in Griffin Park following the cleanup with food generously donated by area restaurants. Since the Pierre-Fort Pierre Missouri River Cleanup began in 2009 over 22 tons of trash has been collected by more than 700 volunteers.
