Cultural Heritage Center Easter Hours
Looking for an Easter excursion? Consider a visit to the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.
"With many people having Friday afternoon off, it is an excellent time to bring guests to our museum and explore South Dakota history," said Jay Vogt, South Dakota State Historical Society Director.
The museum offers an award-winning journey through our state's past, beginning with the Sioux American Indian way of life before the arrival of the Europeans in 1743, to pioneer life and early statehood after 1889, through changes that occurred in the 20th century. Another exhibit highlights the year's centennial of the State Capitol.
The museum and gift shop will be open from 1-4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 2. The archives and other offices of the State Historical Society are closed all day.
The museum, gift shop and archives are open Saturday, April 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Cultural Heritage Center is closed on Easter Sunday.
Regular museum hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday-Saturday and 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. There is a small admission fee for adults ages 18-and-older; children and State Historical Society members are always free. The archives is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and the first Saturday of each month.
