Activities at the Cultural Heritage Center
Saturday, December 12, will be a fun day to visit the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre.
Susan Turnbull of Rapid City will discuss and sign copies of the book she illustrated for the South Dakota State Historical Society, "The Raccoon and the Bee Tree", from 1-3pm.
From 12-3pm, listen to the holiday sounds of local musicians Jim Szana and Lonnie Schumacher, and piano students of Karen Huebner will follow from 3-5pm.
And from 12-5pm, find unique holiday gifts from Bushnell Pottery, Calla English Toffee of Mobridge, SD Chic Beads of Brookings, Peralcreek Soap of Cavour, and Patricia Johnson of Watertown.
Miniature replicas of eight local historic buildings are displayed in the lobby, and the lobby tree and wreaths are decorated with imitation red geraniums, named Pierre's official flower in 1910.
The Cultural Heritage Center is open Saturday from 9:00am to 6:30pm and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:30pm.
