April 2021 President's Report
Thinking back to one year ago, when, and if, the hotel phone rang it was not for reservations, but for cancellations. We were told that restrictions/recommendations would last a few weeks, to a few months at most. Here we are one full year later and are still grinding as a community.
Populations across the country are still devastated, but Pierre... we are strong. During the last 365 days, I have witnessed what our community is capable of. We came together to support local businesses and endure as a community. And we will continue to persevere.
The Pierre Area Chamber is no exception and has also been adjusting with the winds of change. Exciting upgrades are in progress to the Chamber’s building and Visitor’s Center, and the Board of Directors will be interviewing possible new CEO’s in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for an Open House and Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the Chamber’s updated space; you might even get to meet the new CEO if you attend!
Keep in mind that the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce is always looking for volunteers to help strengthen our committees and keep things moving forward. We also encourage participation in Chamber-sponsored events and activities. Remember, to be a member of the Chamber is to be a part of something big, and something energizing within the community. Members can take advantage of the many Chamber promotions that highlight their business and bring it to the forefront. But don’t overlook the benefits of getting connected. The Chamber offers many opportunities to meet people, and to help you get to know what’s going on in the ever-changing business climate. What a great way to get involved in your Pierre/Ft. Pierre community!
I encourage you to find ways to make our community stronger in any way possible. Whether it’s shopping locally (Loyal2Local), volunteering, or connecting with community members in a meaningful way.
