The Big Read/Egypt

The Big Read/Egypt Tuesday, March 31, 2009 starting at 7:00pm at Dishes located at 740 East Sioux Avenue. Mediterranean Country Cooking Dishes and Prairie Pages Cook Book Club will host the evening featuring tastes of the Mediterranean and a demonstration on the making of hummus. The Big Read/Egypt is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literary reading in America. Along with a series of related events scheduled for the Pierre Area, the community is invited to participate in the Big Read/Egypt by reading "The Thief and the Dogs" by Nobel Prize winning Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz. Other sponsors of the program are South Dakota Humanities Council, BankWest, Rawlins Municipal Library and Prairie Pages Bookseller.
