The South Dakota State Historical Society Museum is switching the annual make-and-take a holiday ornament event to a “take-to-make” program this year. Visitors will pick up bags with the materials and written instructions and take the projects home to complete. Instructional videos on how to make the ornaments will be posted on the Museum’s website at https://history.sd.gov/museum/education.aspx. There will be five different decorations available – a folded paper wreath, a pinecone Christmas tree, a wheat stalk ornament, a beads and bells pipe cleaner ornament, and a beady pheasant. A “bonus” bag with a blank card and various stickers can be used to create a holiday card. To make sure there are enough ornament bags to meet demand the Museum reserves the right to limit the number any one person or group can take.
