Kids can learn bike safety and test their riding skills at a bike rodeo planned for Wednesday, May 10. The free event will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at American Bank & Trust in Pierre. No advance registration is necessary.
The bike rodeo is being held in conjunction with National Bike To School Day to encourage kids to be active and enjoy bicycling safely.
Kids attending will learn bike safety tips; ride a skills course; get a brief mechanical inspection of their bike; and can register their bikes with the police department in case of theft. Free helmets will be distributed and fitted while supplies last.
The event is being hosted at American Bank & Trust with the help of local bicyclists and support from SD Emergency Medical Services, the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area, SD Discovery Center, Oahe YMCA, and the Pierre Police Department.
