More than a quarter of a million Americans crossed the continental United States to Oregon and California territories between 1840 and 1870. Molly Rozum will share stories of the women who took part in this great trek westward, based on the book "Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey" by Lillian Schlissel. Rozum is an associate professor of history at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and will be speaking at the Cultural Heritage Center in person. The book is available for purchase at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and the Capitol.
