Endless Imagination: The South Dakota Governor's Third Biennial Art Exhibition will open in the Hogen Gallery of the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre on Saturday, December 13. The exhibit will be up through March 2, 2009. The exhibit began touring in Rapid City in February and has since traveled to Brookings, Aberdeen and Vermillion before ending in Pierre. Started by Gov. Mike Rounds six years ago, the Biennial Exhibit recognizes and encourages South Dakota artists, promotes the state's unique artistic identity, and celebrates our rich cultural heritage and endless creative potenital. One hundred forty-two artists submitted 500 entries for the exhibit. Of the submissions, 54 pieces were chosen for the show by a panel of three in state jurors. Works chosen include sculpture, photographs, paintings, and prints by artists from all across the state. A full-color exhibit catalog includes photographs of each artwork along with biographies and artists' statements. Museum hours are 9am to 6:30pm Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4:30pm Sundays.
