The 20th Annual Dakota Duck Derby will be held on Saturday, June 20th starting at 10:00am at the Steamboat Park Causeway. It is just 2 bucks a duck or $20 for a "quack pack" of 10 lucky ducks. 5000 bright yellow duckies will be dumped into the river and race to the finish line! 1st place prize is $500 cash - sponsored by Pierre/Fort Pierre First National Bank. Other prizes include: 12 dinners for 2, Oahe Speedway race package, gas certificates, gift certificates, gift baskets, massages, YMCA membership, Flintstone Village admission, South Dakota State Park entry stickers, Mickelson Trail pass, gift certificates from Main Street Market, Tack Shack/Becci Scott, Ashley Furniture Home Store, combination packages and much more...adding prizes daily!
You want your duck to swim fast...but not too fast! Everyone has a chance for the $20,000 winning duck, the 20th duck thru the finishing line will be plucked, if the duck dumber matches one of the 10 numbers picked by the insurance computer you could win $20,000! The insurance premium is sponsored by Oahe Electric Cooperative and West Central Electric.
Make sure to go to Wal-Mart on Saturday June 6th from 10:00am to 1:00pm for the Duck Sale Challenge! The annual battle between KCCR and KGFX Dakota Radio News Group to see who can sell more duck tickets!
June 15 - 19th is the Annual Duck Hunt Week. Ducks will be placed in a different business each day - listen to KCCR daily for clues - find the duck - win a prize and 5 ducks for the race!
This year special ducks will be on sale to help fund the Bed & Breakfast program that is offered by Countryside Hospice, Inc. The Bed and Breakfast Program can help with travel expenses if you or a family member needs to leave our community for cancer care. A total of 400 "NASCAR" ducks and "Pink Ribbon" ducks will be available for $5.00 each. You will recieve a rubber duckie to take home - a regular duck ticket for the race - entry in a special cash drawing and of course, help a cancer patient! That's what you call a win/win situation!
