DESCRIPTION:The Verendrye Museum Backyard BBQ is ON!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Verendrye Museum's Backyard BBQ returns on Saturday\, August 15th. This is open to any BBQ enthusiast to bring their grills down to compete! This fun community event is held at the scenic Fischer's Lilly Park\, right on the mouth of the Bad River and Missouri River\, and is open to the public. The brisket was donated by the SD Beef Council and participants can prepare the beef with their special recipes. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winners. In 2019\, there were 22 contestants serving meals to more than 150 people and A-G-E Corporation of Fort Pierre took first place. \n\n \n\nThe Calcutta will be at 1pm (CT) that day and the public is encouraged to the early testing and judging of the People's Choice award from 4:00-5:30pm. At 6pm\, the BBQ Brisket dinner will be open for the public to enjoy the fantastic food and fixings for $10 per person. Kids eight years old and under are free. Soft drinks\, water and adult beverages will be available for sale. As an added convenience\, carry-out will be available for food. \n\n \n\n"Sponsorships offset the costs of the event and the profits help the renovation/operations of the Verendrye Museum and other historical sites\," said Board President . "The Verendrye Museum Board also support and govern four other historical Fort Pierre sites: Log Cabin Visitor Center\, Stanley County Jail\, Sansarc Country School Museum and Fort Pierre Depot in Fort Pierre." \n\n \n\nBoard Treasurer Connie Carlisle added\, "some seating is available in the park and we encourage people to bring lawn chairs.
