June 2021 Membership Report

MARK YOUR CALENDARS – the Chamber Golf Classic is just around the corner, on Thursday, June 3! Have you registered your team? Have you signed up to be a hole sponsor? If the answer is no, call us today so you don’t miss out on the fun! Try your luck at our new 50/50 golf ball drop fundraiser. Participants enter the contest by purchasing a numbered golf ball for $10. Then, at the end of the golf tournament we will drop all the golf balls onto the green from A-G-E’s new crane. The owner of the ball in, or closest to, the hole wins half of the pot. Thank you to First Dakota National Bank and A-G-E for helping us plan this fun addition to our golf tournament. Gateway, Ford, Lincoln and Toyota will be back with a new Ford Explorer for those who are able to sink a hole-in-one on the designated hole during the tournament!

What better way to celebrate #605Day than by attending the 2021 Casey Tibbs Match of Champions on Saturday, June 5? For more information on the steak fry, admission options and more, check out the 2021 Casey Tibbs Match of Champions Facebook page.

Trail of Governors will unveil the class of 2021 Governor statues on Friday June 11, 2021 at 10AM in the Capitol Rotunda. Included in this class are:

  • 2nd Governor 1893 -1897 Charles H Sheldon by James Michael Maher
  • 6th Governor 1907 - 1909 Coe Crawford by Lee Leuning & Sherri Treeby
  • 11th Governor 1925 - 1927 Carl Gunderson by James Van Nuys
The 4th Annual Run with the Govs will be Saturday, June 12th starting 8:30 am. This event is a charity 3.5-mile race that winds through the heart of Pierre. The route features bronze statues of the state's former governors. If you would like to register for this event you can click here!

After a year of limited social gatherings, IT'S BACK! Oahe Days will take place Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19. The music lineup is one of the best yet, be sure to follow Oahe Days on Facebook or check the Oahe Days website for the most up-to-date information. As usual, we are asking community members to take a few hours of their time to volunteer over the weekend. The free community event would not be possible if it were not for community involvement.

In addition to Oahe Days' return, we are happy to share the seventh annual Buckin' on the River will be back with rodeos on both Friday and Saturday. Live bull riding, ranch bronc riding, mutton busting and more can all be found in the lot near the Legion Cabin and Steamboat Park. Follow Buckin' on the River on Facebook for specific rodeo events and times.

Have a great summer - It's going to be a busy one!
