Scouting For Food Drive
Scouts will be placing Scouting for Food bags on doors in an effort to collect non-perishable goods for our local food bank. On October 25th, Scouts will be coming back around to collect them. By donating items to the Scouting for Food drive, you are helping those in need right here in Pierre. Last year, the Scouting for Food drive collected over 4,000 lbs. of food in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area. Remember to check expiration dates and refrain from donating glass items. Here is the "Most Wanted" list from the pantry.. Spaghetti Sauce, Mac & Cheese, Canned Fruit, Jelly, Peanut Butter, Tuna Helper, Beef Stew, Evaporated Milk, Saltine Crackers, Boxed Potatoes, Vegetable Oil, Chunky Soups, Boxed Cereal, Oatmeal, Flour, Sugar, Canned Chicken, Spam, Tuna, or any canned meats. Scouting for Food is just one way the Boy Scouts of America works to support communities across the nation. Scouts are active in cleaning up parks, building houses, gathering for the needy and even helping with disaster relief. Through the Scouting for Food drive, you can make a difference. So please set aside a few extra items to donate when the bag shows up at your door. If you will not be home on the day Scouts plan to pick up the bag, simply hang it on your front door. Rest assured the Local Scouts and our local food bank will put your contribution to good use.
