
2010 ADA Standards & Common Architectural Issues
The SD Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities has partnered with Rocky Mountain ADA Center to provide a training on the 2010 ADA Standards during a week in September and will be in Pierre on Wednesday, September 12th at the Governor's Inn.
Rob Gilkerson is the architectural information specialist for the Rocky Mountain ADA Center which is managed by Meeting the Challenge, Inc. (MTC), an information services consulting firm that serves individuals and organizations with rights and responsibilities for compliance under federal disability laws.
The ADA Center provides information, informal guidance and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Gilkerson has an extensive background in accessibility-related issues and authored six wheelchair access guides.
He has worked with numerous organizations to conduct facility audits including Colorado State University, the White River and Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forests, the Colorado Springs School District 11, and Kaiser Permanente medical facilities, the City of Golden, Memorial Hospital, and Johnson & Wales University.
He was instrumental in creating a DVD based on the "Existing Facility Checklist," providing photos and technical interpretation of the ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
